How To Build A Minecraft Bouncy Castle
We challenge you to copy and improve on a Minecraft bouncy castle build…
Build Specs
A bouncy castle is the perfect way to enjoy yourself outdoors, and while Minecraft doesn’t have bouncy inflatables just yet, it has got the next best thing – slime blocks. So, pull out those springy, green blocks and get building your very own bouncy castle.
Here are the things your build needs to have to qualify…
- Towers and turrets around the edges
- Slime blocks for extra bounce
- A platform or two to leap off
- An entrance so you can get in and out
Other than that, you are free to try whatever you want!
Hints and Tips
Building out of slime blocks is essential – they are the only thing that has enough bounce to prevent you taking any damage when you jump on them. If you land on a solid surface, you might not make it out. Build a large, square area out of just slime blocks to begin with, then build the rest of the castle around that.
Technically, you could make the walls out of another material as long as you don’t bounce onto it. You could use concrete if the top is lined with slime blocks to stop it being dangerous. We didn’t because we loke the inflatable look of slime blocks, but feel free to experiment with blocks that are more colourful.
Finishing Touches
One block that looks similar to slime is honey. Although honey has a different effect to slime (you stick to it rather than bounce), it is a great way to add some variation in areas you are not going to bounce on. Or add some air brakes for people who want to stop quickly!
That is why we put some honey blocks right above our door, so people can fall against them and slow down.
The easiest way to build a jumping platform is to use scaffolding. You can build very high just by standing on the ground and adding blocks, and when it is done you can climb up it without having a add a ladder.
What to do Next
Although you cannot injure yourself jumping onto slime blocks, the area around the castle is likely to be another story. If you jump too far or get bounced over a wall, you will want a softer landing than the ground. You can surround your castle with water, if you want to protect people from damage completely, though a less difficult to manage choice might be hay bales – they don’t stop damage totally, but they do reduce it.
See if you can find ways to make the castle fancier outside. Add a queue and a waiting area for guests, maybe some safety instructions for anyone visiting – and chests for them to leave their armour in.
